RIESLING GRAND CRU ZOTZENBERG
ZEYSSOLFF 2017 (19€ the bottle of 75cl )

Geographic location

On the south side of the Mittelbergheim hill, who peaks at 320 meters, the Zotzenberg has a shape of a basin. It benefits from a long period of sunshine being exposed east and south. Its surface of 36 hectares (89 acres) consists of marls and limestone, which both can handle humidity and drought.   Mostly known for its Sylvaner in the old days, this terroir also allows the Gewurztraminer, the Pinot Gris and the Riesling to be expressed, on an exceptionnal way.

Limpind, light green robe with hints of yellow. Nice brightness, brilliant. Limpide, robe vert-clair avec des nuances de jaune. Bel éclat, brillant. Wine to aerate, it reveals aromas slowly like white flowers, acacia, lime tree and green apple. Dry in the mouth, it’s a classic Riesling, fresh and well-structured. To enjoy now, but will be perfect in 5 to 7 years. To serve with grilled fishes, seafood, white meats with creamy mushroom sauce, or with pie.

GEWURZTRAMINER VENDANGES TARDIVES
ZEYSSOLFF 2017
(28€ the bottle of 75cl )

Geographic location

The semi-continental climate of the Alsatian vineyard, with its low rainfall climatology and its remarkable sunshine during the fall, is eminently in favor to let the grapes dry on the vines and to get the noble rot from the Botrytis. This climate allow the harvest to be late – way more than the normal harvests-, from Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, at the time  when they offer all their richness.

Selection of old vines with small yields located in Gertwiller (heavy and clayey soil) and in Heiligenstein. Grapes from a strict sorting, where every picker has 3 different buckets: one for berries with noble rot, one for berries with grey rot and one for healthy berries.

Description of the wine

Straw yellow gold  color. Brilliant, very limpid. Soft nose, harmonious, floral and perfumed. Honey, exotic fruit, violet, jasmine aromas. Soft wine, great intensity on the palate. Nice length in the mouth. To drink on itself or to match with foie gras and some desserts.

PINOT GRIS SÉLECTIONS GRAINS NOBLES
ZEYSSOLFF 2015
(30€ the bottle of 50 cL)

Geographic location

The semi-continental climate of the Alsatian vineyard, with its low rainfall climatology and its remarkable sunshine during the fall, is eminently in favor to let the grapes dry on the vines and to get the noble rot from the Botrytis. This climate allow the harvest to be late – way more than the normal harvests-, from Riesling, Muscat, Pinot Gris and Gewurztraminer, at the time  when they offer all their richness.

Wines carrying this name are harvested by hand, and are produced from berries with noble rot only. This extra concentration make the intensity of the grape more discreet, in favor of a power, a complexity and a remarkable length in the mouth.

Wines named “Sélection de Grains Nobles” must present a very high level in sugar at the harvest, and can be sell only after 18 months of aging.

Description of the wine

Straw yellow robe.

Young wine with a great concentration. Nose with a big intensity, over-ripeness flavours, quince fruit jelly, date, candied orange. In the mouth, the wine is dense, fleshy. The palette of aromas is splendid,  with a candied dominant feature, apricot fruit jelly, honey and quince. Very nice balance.
